People For Bikes ranked Provincetown as #1 in New England and #1 in Massachusetts in their 2024 City Ratings program. The town also ranked #2 in the USA and #2 worldwide out of over 2,500 places rated.
Provincetown scored a total of 96 points out of a possible 100 (up 8 from 2023), trailing three points behind newcomer Mackinac Island, Michigan, which is completely car-free.

Bicycle Friendly Community Award
The Bicycle Committee is pleased to announce that the Town of Provincetown has been designated as a Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) by the League of American Bicyclists.
Provincetown is the smallest town awarded in this nationwide round of applications and joins eleven other Massachusetts towns and cities honored by the BFC program.
The Silver-level award ranks Provincetown at the same level as Nantucket and Boston and as the first Silver community on Cape Cod.
